EXCHANGE RATE
Since exchange rates change frequently, it is recommended that you check on the current rate at the time of your trip. US dollars and Tanzanian shillings are accepted at most Tanzanian businesses. ATMs are available at airports and at banks in Tanzania, so obtaining Tanzanian shillings is not difficult. If you are bringing USD currency with you, they need to be printed on or after 2009, as notes before that date are not accepted in Tanzania.
HEALTH AND VACCINATIONS
It is important that you visit your travel doctor before your visit to Africa. There are a range of vaccinations that your doctor may recommend. Currently, the only mandatory vaccine is for Yellow Fever, and you will be asked to produce a Yellow Fever vaccination certificate upon your arrival in Tanzania in order to enter the country. Other vaccinations you might consider are for Hepatitis A and B, Tetanus, Typhoid and Cholera. Taking a malarial prophylactic is also recommended and your doctor can advise which type is best for you.
